The Delano District is a historical part of Wichita that dates back to the Chisholm Trail Cattle drives of the late 1800’s when it was a popular destination because of the number of saloons. After the cattle trade moved to Dodge City, this district faced an economic downturn. However, with the rise of the Aviation industry, Delano again became a popular destination for shopping and commerce. Today, it remains one of my favorite parts of town and is a huge part of the “shop local” movement that is sweeping through Wichita. Whether you are wanting to grab a bite to eat, find a unique gift from a local shop, enjoy a Baseball game, or visit one of the nearby attractions on the river, the Delano District is a great place to get a feel for what Wichita has to offer.
